A dog, not a mascot.
Henry was our rescued English Bulldog from Cape Town. He was funny, stubborn, deeply loved, and completely himself. He had strong opinions about motorbikes, bicycles, workers, and nail trimming, none of which were favourable. Whenever suitcases appeared, he climbed inside them.
His official title at Pawse.ai was Chief Executive Overlord, but Henry was never our mascot. He was the reason we began.
Henry's journey
The beginning of the question.
Henry travelled with us from South Africa to Europe, experiencing unfamiliar sounds, long journeys, and changing homes. When a heat embargo disrupted his planned flight, we drove him from Frankfurt to Porto.
Throughout that journey, we saw how strongly his surroundings affected the way he rested, reacted, travelled, and felt safe. When Henry struggled with separation and unfamiliar sounds, we searched for ways to help him.
We found treats, sprays, diffusers, television, and generic playlists designed to sound soothing to people. What we could not find was a product that began with Henry's hearing, recognised his individual sensitivities, and changed according to how he responded.
That absence became Pawse.ai.
His legacy

Henry passed away in June 2026. Losing him made our work more personal and our purpose even clearer.

Our mission
Sound designed around the dog.
Pawse.ai was created to help dogs feel safer in environments built around human senses. Our mission is to understand the sound each dog experiences and use that understanding to create acoustic environments shaped by the dog's breed, age, sensitivities, situation, and response.
We want to give dog parents a clearer way to recognise the sound patterns affecting their dogs and a more thoughtful way to respond. Not with another generic playlist, but with an experience that becomes more personal as it learns what helps the individual dog.
The result reaches beyond the dog. Sound-related stress can affect rest, behaviour, family routines, and the neighbours living nearby. A calmer dog can support a calmer home and a stronger relationship between the dog and the people around it.

Wherever dogs live, stay, receive care, recover, or wait for a home.
Our vision begins in the home, but it does not end there. The same need exists wherever dogs spend time away from the people, routines, and surroundings they know.
Shelters are filled with unfamiliar voices, doors, movement, and constant barking. Pet hotels and boarding facilities place dogs in new environments without the people they trust. Veterinary hospitals and recovery spaces can feel overwhelming at moments when dogs are already vulnerable.
We want Pawse.ai to support these environments as well. In a shelter, it could help create periods of rest within the noise. In a pet hotel, it could bring greater consistency to an unfamiliar stay. In a veterinary or recovery setting, it could help make the surrounding environment feel gentler.
As Pawse.ai reaches more dogs, the information gathered with permission across breeds, homes, and care environments can deepen our understanding of canine hearing and sound sensitivity. This can help improve the experience of each individual dog while contributing knowledge that may support better canine care in the future.
Our long-term vision is for sound to be considered an essential part of canine wellbeing wherever a dog lives, stays, receives care, recovers, or waits for a home.
Pawse.ai began in Cape Town with a rescue Bulldog who changed the way we understood sound. The idea travelled with him across continents, grew into a working product in Europe, and is now being developed from Spain for dog parents everywhere.
